Who I Am

I'm Raquel, a seasoned full-stack engineer from Florida with a background in design and over fifteen years experience building applications for mobile devices and the Web. My broad skill set allows me to contribute to all stages of a project including project management, system and database architecture, UI/UX, Backend/API development and deployment.

I'm happiest when challenged with development projects that allow me to grow as a developer and engage my creative problem-solving skills. When I'm not writing or thinking about code I enjoy triathlon, surfing, gardening and raising backyard chickens.

Lead Software Engineer
Point-of-Sale, Web and API software development

I work with a small team to develop custom point-of-sale software and web marketing solutions for over 700 franchise locations. Notable projects my team has developed include a just-in-time inventory management system that processes over a million inventory items per year and a custom storefront platform that interfaces with multiple partner APIs. Our team works hard to deliver on-time solutions that increase efficiency and profitability.

Senior Staff Developer
Web and Mobile application development

I was the Lead Developer on multiple projects for both web and mobile platforms. The iOS applications I developed included integration with Webservices and MFi hardware with both App Store and Enterprise deployments. Along with a small team, I helped develop an award-winning Interactive Learning Management System for the military sector.

Graphic and Product Design

I designed logos and graphics in this fast-paced production environment. Designs included business cards, promotional items, clothing imprints and product packaging. I also designed and maintained the company website and e-commerce solution.

What I've Learned

Education is a journey that never ends.
Here are a few things I've learned during my travels.

2013-2015 - Florida Institute of Technology

Master of Science, Computer Information Systems

During this period my studies focused on advanced programming as well as software and database architecture. My capstone project was a complete triathlon training generation system deployed onto AWS Beanstalk. Work on the system included front and back-end development as well as database architecture.

2012-2008 - University of Central Florida

Bachelor of Science, Information Technology

This degree afforded me the opportunity to learn about infrastructure, server administration and network design. The knowledge gained during these studies has been invaluable to me as a web developer who often works with cloud servers during application deployments.

2002-2004 - Valencia College

Associate of Science, Multimedia Design

My love affair with digital media started here. The multimedia design program at Valencia allowed me to grow from a fine artist into a digital artist and launched my career in web development.
